About ASMO

Who We Are?

Afghan Social Marketing Organization (ASMO) is a social marketing and behavior change communication organization in Afghanistan, focused on the health sector-primarily family planning and maternal and child health. ASMO works to ensure that Afghans have access to the information they need to make informed, healthy choices, alongside affordable and high-quality priority health products.

A market segmentation analysis of the AfDHS 2015 highlights ASMO’s significant contribution to improving health across the country. More than 22% of women using modern contraceptives used products marketed by ASMO, while between 5% and 20% of users relied on ASMO’s oral rehydration salts (ORS), water treatment solutions, and iron supplement products.

As “A Partner for a Better Life,” ASMO was officially registered with the Ministry of Economy in August 2008 and began operating as an independent, not-for-profit Afghan NGO in December 2010.

ASMO was established to advance social marketing initiatives within Afghanistan and to promote positive behavior change for improved community well-being. Through modern communication approaches, nationwide training, and behavior-change campaigns-implemented in close partnership with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan-ASMO strengthens demand for quality health products delivered through private-sector channels. These combined efforts expand national access to essential health commodities and support healthier families across Afghanistan.
